Dedicated ESL Class

English Language Learner (ELL) middle school students receive dedicated English language instruction through an assigned ESL class. Classes are offered based upon the ELL student’s proficiency in English. Instruction in all classes focuses on developing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing and is based on the Colorado English Language Proficiency (CELP) standards.

Beyond the ESL Classroom

The ESL teacher also assists other teachers in the school with developing appropriate instructional supports for ELL students to meaningfully access grade-level content.

English as a Second Language

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Department assists culturally and linguistically diverse students in developing social and academic English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing that allows for meaningful access to grade level content.
