Stay Informed
Academy District 20 believes in clear, consistent, and regular communication. We use a variety of methods to ensure you receive the right information at the right time:
- District and school websites
- Text messages or phone calls
- ParentSquare app
- Social media
- Traditional mail
Our websites and email are the primary communication methods. You can also opt in to receive text messages or phone calls. Some school-specific communication may come through systems like Infinite Campus or Schoology.
Setting Up Your Communication Preferences
Make sure your contact information is up to date in Infinite Campus. You can choose:
- How you would like to receive communication (email, text, or phone)
- The email addresses or phone numbers where we should reach you
- The types of communications you want to receive
- Which family members should receive updates
Check your email regularly. If you unsubscribe from any emails from Academy District 20 or our schools, you will no longer receive any of our emails. To start receiving emails again, update your settings in Infinite Campus. Alternatively, you can delete any emails you no longer wish to receive.
If our emails go to your spam or junk folder, please follow your email provider's instructions to add donotreply@asd20.org to your safe list. Bookmark the district website and any schools your student(s) attend.
Keeping Your Information Up-To-Date
Emergency contacts and other information can be updated as needed in Infinite Campus: go to the more menu item and choose:
- Demographics (for emergency contacts)
- Family Information (to update your family's information)
Communication Channels
Websites
- Our district and school websites provide important information through announcements and features, easily accessible on the homepage or subject-specific pages.
- Each website includes a powerful search tool that allows you to ask plain-language questions or search for keywords. This tool helps you quickly find specific information by providing detailed answers or directing you to relevant pages.
- Resources available on our websites include district and school calendars, login details for password-protected systems like Infinite Campus and Schoology, employee directories, and our Schools tool which allows you to compare schools and view interactive maps.
Most communication is sent via email through ParentSquare. We target messages to parents and community members who will find the information useful. Teachers may send student-specific information through the messenger system in Infinite Campus.
Text Messages and Phone Calls
You can opt to receive text messages for urgent updates. Automated phone calls or texts are used for critical events such as weather delays, school closures, or time-sensitive notifications.
ParentSquare
ParentSquare is an all-in-one mass communication tool used by all schools to send school-wide messages, forms, RSVPs, and more. Families who do not activate their ParentSquare account will continue to receive notifications via email but will not have access to interactive features like forms, RSVPs, and comments. Infinite Campus remains the platform for grades, payments, and other student information.
For more information about ParentSquare and how to set up your account, visit our ParentSquare page.
Social Media
We share updates and encourage engagement via Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X. Most schools also have their own social media pages. While social media is interactive, for the most timely and important information, we recommend monitoring our websites and checking your email.
Emergency Communication
Emergencies include events such as police activity near a school, threats against a school, or wild animals on school grounds. In situations requiring immediate action or when time is critical, we will use email, text messages, phone calls, and website notifications to keep you informed.
