School Choice

We participate in School Choice, allowing families to select the best school option for their child whether they live inside or outside district boundaries. School Choice is offered based on space availability at each school.

High Achievement

Our district has earned numerous awards and recognitions and has been Accredited with Distinction by the Colorado Department of Education since 2009.

Growth and Development

Since 2003, we have added approximately 7,000 students and anticipate adding 5,000 more by 2028.

To support this growth, we passed a $230 million bond measure in 2016. This funding has allowed us to improve all our schools and build new facilities, including:

  • Legacy Peak Elementary School

  • Chinook Trail Middle School

  • A permanent home for School in the Woods

  • The Center for Modern Learning

  • Encompass Heights Elementary School

In 2024, an $83 million bond was passed to rebuild schools located on the U.S. Air Force Academy. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense, our district gained access to an additional $191 million to support these projects. The 2024 bond funds also support our two charter schools, The Classical Academy and New Summit Charter Academy.

Our Schools and Programs

Covering 130 square miles, the district includes:

23 elementary schools (includes two charter schools and our Home School program)

10 middle schools (includes two charter schools, an online school, and our Home School program)

9 high schools (including two charter schools, an online school, our Home School program, and an alternative school)

Additionally, the district offers preschool at 13 elementary schools and a summer enrichment program. We also support two charter schools: The Classical Academy and New Summit Charter Academy.

Our high schools provide a wide range of innovative, hands-on programs designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and prepare students for success after graduation. Our district employs over 3,000 educators, administrators, and specialty staff, over 1,500 of which are teachers. We serve approximately 26,000 students.
