If you or your student need to access the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) grounds for academic purposes, athletics, or other D20-related events, please review the following entry requirements. Access procedures vary depending on your identification and citizenship status.

If You Already Have a DBIDS or DoD ID Card

  • You may use either the North Gate or South Gate to enter USAFA.

If You Are an Active D20 Student Without a DoD or DBIDS ID

  • South Gate is recommended, but you may use the North Gate as well.

  • Have your student ID and driver’s license (if licensed) ready for gate personnel.

Parents, Staff and Visitors Without a DoD or DBIDS ID

  • Use the South Gate only.

  • You must:

    • Register for an installation access pass using a QR code provided by your sponsoring D20 department or school (e.g., athletics or other school-sponsored activities) and;

    • Pass a criminal background check initiated via the QR code process listed above.

  • Alternatively, you may:

    • Receive a hard-copy pass after passing a criminal background check at the Pass and Registration Office (PRO) with a sponsor present and a valid government-issued Real ID card.

Non-U.S. Citizens

Non-U.S. Citizen sponsored guests who hold a foreign passport are required to report to the Pass and Registration Office (PRO) upon their arrival at the USAFA to secure a pass for entry onto the premises and must have a valid sponsor.

Sponsors can start the clearance process early by emailing passport information to 10SFS.S5B@us.af.mil.  The visitor must bring their passport to the PRO in-person to receive the visitor’s pass. Copies or photographs will not be accepted. Wait times at the PRO may vary, and could take 30-60 minutes or more for processing.

The USAFA is a federal military installation and follows federal rules, regulations and orders regarding any request to access the base by non-U.S. Citizens.
