Troubleshooting Connectivity or Global Protect Issues

If you see a getting "Internet Access Blocked" message when you try browsing the web on your student laptop, follow the troubleshooting steps below. If your issues persist, please contact your school’s technology department.

  1. Once logged into Windows, you can check the GlobalProtect status by clicking its icon in the notification area. If you don’t see it there, you can click the magnifying glass icon near the Start menu, then search for “GlobalProtect,” and launch the GlobalProtect app when it shows up.

  2. After clicking on the Global Protect icon, if you see a “Connect” button, click it. In a moment, you should see that the connection succeeded.

  3. After you see the “Connected” message, wait at least one minute before you attempt to use the internet.

If you are still unable to access the internet after waiting five minutes, email help@asd20.org, or call your school.

It is recommended that you shut down your laptop at the end of the school day every day to ensure the network connection is being severed when the computer is not in use and to prevent the "Internet Access is Blocked" message. To power down your laptop, click on the start button in the lower-left corner of your screen, click on the power icon that appears right above it, and select "Shut down."
