When a student with disabilities in Academy District 20 (D20) is ready for their next stage in life, the School to Work Alliance Program (SWAP) jumpstarts their career with jobs that fit their unique needs.

Quentin Avinger, a recent Rampart High School graduate, found his passion as a floral architect at Dandelion Chapel Hills, a local flower shop. His success was recently featured by KOAA News 5.

“He makes the best floral arrangements I have ever seen,” Michelle Casner, a D20 SWAP Career Coach told reporters. Casner works with students and develop partnerships with employers in the community.

She explained, “a part of [her] job is to do job development with the community and create partnerships to see if they can do some type of work experience with students.”

Through SWAP, students with disabilities can practice and improve workplace skills in today’s high demand industries. Read more about SWAP at D20.
