Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The ASD20 Business Services team was honored with the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2021-22 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

The award is given to school districts for their prioritization of transparency and disclosure when preparing their annual financial reports. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Starting in 1945, this award was created to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual financial reports.

Meritorious Budget Award - Excellence in Budget Presentation

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has Academy School District 20 and its Business Services team for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for fiscal year 2023–2024.

"I'm so fortunate to work with the best team. I can't imagine doing this work with anyone else. This award recognizes the value of the budget book we put together that is over 260 pages long" Becky Allan, ASD20 Chief Financial Officer explained to the Board of Education. "My team takes their work to heart, especially when it comes to communicating this tough subject to our community."

This program awards school districts for their skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget. The presentation undergoes stringent program requirements and is reviewed by a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the MBA Criteria Checklist.
