During the week, please consider thanking an educator by sharing a note, a   card or a post. There is even a statewide hashtag you can   use: #ThankATeacherCO. Plus, you could also nominate your child’s favorite teacher for the 2023 Colorado     Teacher of the Year Award!

No matter how big or small, we would be grateful if you take a moment next   week to thank our educators for all they do to help your student(s) learn and   grow.

Families Thank Special Education Educators

This week the Special Education Department honored 36 special education staff   members during the annual Staff Appreciation Celebration. What makes this   event particularly special is each honoree was nominated by a student or   a student’s parent and/or family member.

These staff members serve as paraprofessionals, speech language   pathologists, and special education teachers. Each of them makes positive   contributions to student success and serve as an integral part of a student’s   educational journey.

Our People: Teru Sasaki

During the past 21 years, Teru Sasaki has collected dozens of handwritten   notes, artwork drawn in crayon, and more “pet rocks” than she can count. As a   lunchroom clerk at Mountain View Elementary, she has developed deep   relationships with students; they are always telling her stories about their   day. Learn why sometimes all you need is a little hot sauce and how we can   learn a lot by just noticing when and what kids eat.

Be safe and be well.
