Last night, at the Academy District 20 (D20) Board of Education (BOE) special Swearing-in Meeting for Amy Shandy and Derrick Wilburn, the board also announced it is accepting applications for a recently vacated board seat. Interested individuals can apply online through Dec. 11, 2023, at 4 p.m.
The announcement comes after former BOE President Tom LaValley announced his resignation at the Nov. 16, 2023, Board Meeting. In accordance with state law, the BOE will accept applications and then make an appointment.
Specifically, the BOE will interview prospective candidates on Dec. 18, 2023, and then select and swear-in its newest member at a public meeting on Dec. 19, 2023. The appointee will serve until the next regular school biennial election in November 2025.
To be eligible for appointment, a candidate must be a registered elector of D20.
