Academy District 20,
As a Colorado native, and an educator for more than 30 years, I have long admired Academy District 20’s (ASD20) commitment to excellence. Upon learning I was selected to serve as your next Superintendent, I was overjoyed.
Frankly, I did not think that feeling could be topped. I was wrong.
This week I had the pleasure of spending three days in ASD20. I attended stakeholder meetings, toured schools, and connected with district staff, parents/guardians and patrons. It was a packed few days, but well worth it and exhilarating.
I am more excited than ever to become part of the ASD20 family. It is an incredibly special place.
Although I was fortunate to meet and speak with so many, it was just the tip of the iceberg. The months ahead will be packed with more listening, discussions and learnings.
My current school district in Washington does not conclude its school year until June 16. Shortly after my husband and I will return to Colorado. While I will physically be 1,268 miles away, I would like to use the next month to continue deepening my knowledge about this amazing school district. I would be grateful for your assistance.
During the next two weeks, I would appreciate if you could answer a short and anonymous questionnaire. Your feedback will help me better understand the district’s current reality, as well as your ideas, challenges and suggestions.
The questionnaire closes on May 19, at 5 p.m. I will then carefully review your answers and share what I have learned before the start of the next school year.
Additionally, if you are interested, in July, I will host Superintendent Coffees and Open Houses. Please watch for more information about those via ASD20.ORG and through email. I also welcome your emails, phone calls or personal visits this summer. That said, I value the importance of taking much needed and deserved time off. If we are not able to connect until closer to the start of next school year, I completely understand.
