Student schedule adjustment due to snow days
In anticipation of additional snow days, we will add an extra 10 minutes to the end of each school day, starting Jan. 8, 2020, and extending through the end of the school year.
The Impact of Snow Days
Living in beautiful, snowy Colorado means the school year can be impacted by school delays and closures. To ensure the required student-teacher contact hours are successfully met, school districts typically build extra days into the school calendar. This year Academy District 20 built in six extra days. Due to this year’s snowfall, including today’s closure, we have already used four and a third of the allocated six days.
Daily Schedule Extension
Because we typically experience our worst weather in March and April, and to keep from extending the school year into June, we will add an extra 10 minutes to the end of each school day, starting Jan. 8, 2020, and extending through the end of the school year.
If we do not have any additional delays or closures, students will finish the school year earlier than the current calendar. However, if we do have more delays or closures, adding 10 minutes to the daily schedule will allow us to finish the school year before June.
Bus Schedules and School Specifics
All bus schedules and district sponsored afterschool activities will be adjusted to meet this updated schedule. Additionally, each principal will send communication with school specific information in the coming days.
