THE VILLAGE AT ACADEMY ONLINE

Frequently Asked Questions

WHO CAN ENROLL?
In the 2015-2016 school year, The Village is enrolling 9th grade students. Students who are current D20 9th graders can inquire about enrolling during semester 2 of the '15-'16 school year. In '16-'17, The Village will expand to 9th and 10th grade students. We plan to add a new grade level each year as the initial pilot students matriculate to the next grade level. We will continue to enroll full time 11th and 12th grade students in our online program for the 2016-2017 school year.

ARE THE COURSES SELF-PACED?

The competency based system is designed to be self-paced. Students will take pre-assessments and have opportunity to demonstrate mastery on content, which will then allow them to focus on content they have not yet mastered. Once students have mastered all course content, they will move forward in course progression. This can be done at any time during a semester and is no longer time bound to reflect “seat time.”

WHAT TYPE OF DIPLOMA WILL A STUDENT RECEIVE AFTER GRADUATING FROM THIS PROGRAM?

Students will receive an Academy School District 20 diploma, just like in our traditional high schools. The courses that students complete will show on a D20 transcript for college consideration.

IS TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED?

There may be opportunity to utilize district transportation services because we are located on the Pine Creek campus.

WHO ARE THE TEACHERS IN THIS PROGRAM?

There are four part time teachers who work in the primary program every other day. There is a highly qualified teacher in every core content area.
