Prairie Hills has many opportunities available to our young learners. We offer music, physical education, art, science, Spanish, computer and life skills for all children. Computers are used throughout the curriculum. The academic curriculum is challenging, yet balanced with student support. The reading curriculum in kindergarten, first, second, and third grades is Open Court. This program combines a strong phonetic strand with an anthology of great literature. During the reading block in these grades, class size is reduced for increased student/teacher interaction. In fourth and fifth grades students read novels that draw from the science and social studies subject areas. Writing is used throughout the curriculum especially in math. Students are taught writing using the 6-trait method and the Step Up to Writing program. Our math program is Trailblazer Math; a hands-on math program that incorporates science and data collection and graphing to teach mathematical concepts. |

Academy School District 20 was the first district in North America to offer a K-12 program with the International Baccalaureate Organization. Rampart’s technology wing is an addition to the original building and was built with bond funds approved by voters in 2001. The design of the wing was an original concept by students in one of Rampart’s drafting classes. The students formally presented their design to the Board of Education and then were able to work closely with architects during the design of the actual addition. Rampart's DECA club manages the schools lunch program so students get firsthand experience in all aspects of running a business. Our school also has a student-run branch of Air Academy Federal Credit Union. We are very proud of our outstanding marching band that has won a state championship and our drama students are involved in productions that are highly anticipated by the entire community. |
